Essay Contest, 2021

We did not run an essay contest in 2022 due to not enough entries in 2021 and Jason's heart surgery. We hope to hold another contest in 2023 depending on interest.
We will be running the essay contest again in 2021. There will be one rule change for this years contest, to avoid the debacle we ran into with the 2017 winner. This years winner will need to sign a contract stating they will not sell the contest animal for at least 12 months.  We will be giving away a doe/doeling of our choosing. Contest rules: contest is open to youth only, 18 years and younger. Youth must be actively involved in raising their own goat herd and showing.  There will be much emphasis put on correct spelling and grammar. Pick-up and shipping of contest animal will be at the winners expense. Contest will run July 3rd through July 24th, with a winner declared on Saturday July 31st . You can mail your essay entries to: Clear Creek Farm. 370 Fox Rd Coldwater, MI 49036, attn: essay contest. This years discussion questions are: 1) why is space between the stifles a good thing, 2) describe how the South Africans used selective breeding to create the Boer breed, 3) what do you hope to achieve by being involved in the goat industry. Good luck to all the 2021 contestants! We will also be recognizing the 2nd and 3rd place winners as well. The 2nd place winning essay will receive a free breeding to any one of our bucks - doe to be bred will need to be programed before hand, and travel arrangements made by winner. 3rd place essay winner will receive a Clear Creek Farm package - T-shirts, etc.

This years contest doeling is: CCF42 Freakishly Pretty #10872471. DOB: 2-21-21. (Pictures will be below)
This doe kid is a fullblood. She was a bottle baby, which makes her very easy going and nice to handle. That means she will be easy for any age to manage, which is why this particular doe was chosen. She is small for her age, but she has all the parts and pieces you would prefer to see; she simply needs time on feed. Pigment is 100%, bite is dead on, teats are 1x1 with a well spaced non-functional on each side. This doe is going to make a fantastic youth partner.

Dam: CCF42 My Pretty Mystress - 10812389 - SGR Mister Mystery x CCF42 Pretty In Pink - We placed 8th at this years national show with this doe.

Sire: HHFG A Freak Decision - 10850707 - PFW Show Me Boers Strategic Decision x 2M Boer Goats Cinnabon.

Congratulations to the 2021 winners!

We received 36 entries from all over the U.S.. It was a stiff and close competition. The quality of the essays was excellent. Thank you to all who submitted essays, it was a pleasure reading them. We want to wish everyone luck in 2022.

1st place winner who will take home CCF42 Freakishly Pretty is Jake Nichols of Gillett, WY.

Again, congrats to all winners, and thank you for participating.
